Interactive robot helps students learn to code

Chicago IL – June 26, 2019 –CDI Technologies’ has partnered with Eduscape, one of North America’s leaders in professional development to add the award-winning Photon robot to its education offerings. After thoroughly testing the product and comparing it to other offerings on the market, CDI saw why teachers are saying “I’ve got to get these in the hands of students!” This cute, alien-like robot entices students as young as kindergarten to learn the basics of programming. This partnership expands CDI’s STEM offerings, which also include AR/VR kits and 3D printers.

“Children learn best when they are having fun and this little guy makes coding seem like play. With this one robot, educators can offer lessons on basic coding up to more challenging coding scenarios,” said CDI’s CEO Erez Pikar. “This robot fits in with our goal of connecting educators with classroom-ready technology that inspires and engages students.”

The Photon robot is unique in that it is suitable for students from age 5-12 – and some schools even use it for high school students. It is also suitable for students with special needs and for non-English speaking students. The Photon robot is compatible with tablets, Windows devices, iPads and Chromebooks. A teacher’s guide offers more than 200 ready-to-use lesson plans and the included educational mat and flashcards help even the youngest student code instructions. Photon can be used with multiple coding programs such as Scratch, Swift Playgrounds, Java, Python and Microsoft MakeCode.

For those interested in connecting and controlling multiple Photons at the same time, a Magic Dongle and Magic Bridge app is available at an additional cost. The dongle and app also provide the ability to connect to interactive displays and projectors for whole-class instruction.
